CMF Speaker M Review: Nothing Made a Bluetooth Speaker Fun Again
The portable speaker market is flooded with black cylinders. CMF by Nothing just launched two milk-carton shaped speakers, and the bigger one – the Speaker M – actually backs up the looks.
At 602 grams it’s not pocketable like the 10W Speaker S, but the integrated handle and IP68 rating make it a true room-to-garden speaker. Inside, CMF skipped the single full-range driver trick. The 70mm woofer handles bass and mid-bass while the 16mm tweeter takes care of vocals and detail. On paper that means better separation and louder, cleaner output than most ₹10k speakers.
In real use, the 35W RMS gives it enough headroom for a bedroom, small living room, or patio party. Ultra Bass adds weight without muddying vocals too much, and Wide Soundstage actually opens up the image for movies when you plug in via USB-C audio. The physical knob is a highlight – you can twist for volume, press for play/pause, and long-press to toggle Ultra Bass without opening the app.
Battery life is honest: CMF claims 18 hours at 50% with Ultra Bass on, which is close to what we got in indoor testing at 60% volume – about 15-16 hours. The Nothing X app EQ is simple but useful, and the removable panels are a clever touch. You can swap colors or 3D-print your own.
Pros: Distinctive design, true 2-way sound, Bluetooth 6.0 + Auracast + USB-C audio, IP68, customizable looks
Cons: No powerbank function, 10m Bluetooth range in real world, needs app for EQ
Verdict: If you want a speaker that looks good on a desk and sounds bigger than a JBL Flip-class unit, the Speaker M is the best design-first option at $109. For travel, get the Speaker S. For home use, the M is the one.
